The National Consultative Front, NCFront, the umbrella platform of the 3rd Force Movement in Nigeria has joined the planned “Citizens Mass Action” currently being mobilised in the event that the Judiciary fails to determine the rightful winner of the 2023 Presidential Elections by May 29.
As far as the group is concerned, there should be no inauguration of the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and vice president-elect, Shettima, until the courts determine who actually won the 2023 Presidential election held on February 25.
The NCFront made their stand known in a statement last night made available to The Frontier and signed by its Director General, Olawale Okunniyi.
“We are of the opinion that Nigeria can no longer afford to run on corruption and falsehood, especially as it relates to fundamental political issues of elections and the rule of law. “Therefore not determing the the rightful winner of the 2023 Presidential elections before the inauguration of a new government is by itself aiding corruption and that should not be allowed to stand as Nigeria can no longer afford such falsehood, the statement said.
The 3rd Force further said that, “The future of Nigeria has become so bleak that if the irregularities and malpractices that characterised the 2023 elections, especially as exposed by the report of the recent Investigations of the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, are allowed to stand, Nigeria is deemed to be on the route to anarchy and self help.
“The leadership of the NCFront therefore wish to reaffirm its commitment to the newly launched Labour – Civil Society Front and its Agenda to rescue Nigeria and to save Nigeria’s Democracy from the claws of the corrupt ruling predators of the Nigerian people and so, wish to direct all our members and stakeholders to be on standby for the planned citizens action meant to save Nigeria come May 29.
“Finally, we wish to call on the Nigerian Judiciary to ensure a positive intervention in the ongoing cases at the Elections Tribunal so as to avert an unprecedented mass showdown of mass and popular forces in the country.”
