The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 28, 2026 931 Minutes read0

The Cross River State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 29-year-old Bolt driver, Emmanuel Effiong Ita, whose body was found in his Honda City vehicle along the Target–Udy King axis of Calabar yesterday, Thursday, August 28, 2026.

The Command disclosed this in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, and made available to journalists in Calabar today.

According to the statement, the deceased, a resident of Ikot Effanga Mkpa, Calabar, was found in connection with the vehicle, adding that his remains had already been taken by family members to the General Hospital Mortuary, where a preliminary examination revealed an injury to his chest.

The statement read, “The Cross River State Police Command is aware of an incident involving the death of a 29-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Effiong Ita, of Ikot Effanga Mkpa, Calabar, whose body was discovered in connection with a Honda City vehicle along the Target–Udy King axis of Calabar on 28 August 2026.

“Upon receiving the information, police personnel were immediately deployed to the scene. The deceased’s remains had, however, been taken by his family to the General Hospital Mortuary, where preliminary examination revealed an injury on his chest.”

The police said the vehicle had been recovered, while relevant evidence was being preserved for further forensic and investigative examination to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

“The Command has commenced a preliminary investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. His vehicle has been recovered, while relevant evidence is being preserved for further forensic and investigative examination,” Eitokpah stated.

He added that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for “discreet and comprehensive investigation”, adding that any significant development would be made public.

The Command urged members of the public to refrain from speculation or circulating unverified information.

“The Command remains committed to uncovering the facts and ensuring that anyone found responsible is brought to justice,” the PPRO said.
