The FCT Police Command said on September 6, 2026, at about 3:30 pm, it received a report at Lugbe Police Division from one Gift Amos of Lugbe, FCT, alleging that on September 4, 2026, she had an argument with her neighbour, one Mrs. Beauty Monday, during which the suspect poured a pot of boiling water on her back, causing serious burns and grievous hurt.

Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command Josephine Adeh said preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred during an argument over the use of a shared compound space.

She said It was established that the victim had moved the suspect’s pot of boiling water from the stove to the portion of the compound allocated to her.

The suspect has since been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction and remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending further proceedings, with the matter adjourned to September 16, 2026.

She said: ”The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, calls on members of the public to embrace peaceful coexistence and exercise restraint in resolving disagreements.

“The CP further urges residents to desist from acts of self help and avoid resorting to violence when faced with disputes or other challenging situations. Members of the public are encouraged to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving conflicts.

“The Command further enjoins residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938.”
