Liverpool set to sign Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala

•Jamal Musiala

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool rate the 21-year-old highly and they are keen to secure his services at the end of the season.

However, they will face competition from Manchester City and the German club have set an asking price of around £100 million for the attacker, reports AFP.

Musiala has two years left on his current contract with the German club and they are under no pressure to sell him this summer. Liverpool and Manchester City will have to pay the asking price if they want to secure his services.

Bayern Munich are prepared to tie him down to a new long-term contract as well. However, the youngster has already rejected proposals from them. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool manage to arrange the funds for the 21-year-old in the summer. Mohamed Salah has been linked with the move away from the club with Saudi Arabian clubs keen on the Egyptian.

If they manage to sell the 31-year-old in the summer, they might have the resources to sign Musiala. The German international has established himself as one of the finest young attackers in European football and he could be a quality replacement for Salah even though he plays in a different role. Liverpool cannot hope to replace him directly and they will need multiple players to cover his end product.

Musiala will certainly add goals and assists to the Liverpool attack. The 21-year-old is capable of operating as a winger as well as the central attacking midfielder.

He has 10 goals and six assists to his name across all competitions this season. His numbers are likely to improve when he is playing in a better team and a move to the Premier League could be an exciting opportunity for him.
