#EndBadGovernance protest: Airlines suffer losses

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 2, 2024 2171 Minutes read0

The commencement of the #EndBadGovernance protest across the country against hardship may lead to additional operational losses on the part of the domestic carriers due to the restriction of movements.

According to the information gathered, many of the domestic airlines recorded very low traffic as passengers out of fear of being caught up in the uncertainty surrounding the atmosphere with the huge presence of uniform personnel stationed at the strategic areas including the airports, either stayed away or cancelled their flights.

Some airlines in order to protect their business and their staff were forced to cancel or reschedule their flights, reports Nigerian Tribune.

In a statement issued by Max Air to its customers, the airline announced the temporary suspension of its flights.

The statement issued by the airline’s management and addressed to its customers partly read: “We regret to inform you that due to the general unrest in the country, we have temporarily suspended our domestic flight operations for 2nd August, 2924.

“Please know that your safety remains our top priority and this decision has been made in the interest of ensuring a secure and reliable travel experience. Throughout this period, our. Dedicated customer service team remains available via our social media channels, emails and phone lines. We are here to answer your questions, provide updates and assist in any way we can.

“Once again, we apologize for any frustration this may have caused and thank you for your continued loyalty, your support is invaluable”.

While some of the airlines refused to operate due to alleged fears over the protests, security was beefed up around the airports.
