Japa: UK increases proof of funds for foreign students

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 14, 2024 3090 Minutes read0

The UK government has announced a rise in the financial requirements known as proof of funds needed for foreign students to study.

According to the Home Office, students planning to study in London must now provide evidence of £1,483 per month for living expenses, while those studying outside London must show £1,136 per month.

This marks an increase from the previous amounts of £1,334 for London and £1,023 for other cities in the UK.

The Home Office stated that this adjustment is intended to align the funds with the revised maintenance loans available to domestic students and to reflect the updated cost of living in the UK.

The new maintenance requirement will cover each month of a student’s course, for up to nine months. These changes will apply to students arriving in the UK on or after January 2, 2025.
