In bid to attract top talent from around the world, several countries are offering free PhD programmes to international students.

Here’s a breakdown of the countries and their offerings:

1. Czech Republic: Public universities offer free PhD programmes, with minimal additional costs.

2. Sweden: PhD programs are free at public universities, with study grants available for living expenses.

3. Germany: Public universities offer fee-free PhD programmes, with a nominal administration fee.

4. Austria: PhD students from the EU and EEA receive free education at public research universities.

5. Norway: Public universities offer free PhD education to all students, with a small semester fee.

6. Denmark: EU, EEA, and Swiss students receive free PhD education at public universities.

7. Finland: Public universities offer free PhD studies, but international students pay for Master’s programmes.

8. Netherlands: Many institutions offer free PhD study to international students, with some universities considering PhD students as employees.

9. Saudi Arabia: PhD students receive scholarships covering education fees and living expenses.

10. Switzerland: PhD places are state-funded, with no fees and a maintenance grant for EU, EEA, and Swiss students.
