How I suffered kidney disease for 12 years – Nollywood actress Ufuoma McDermott

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 1, 2024 3300 Minutes read0

•Ufuoma McDermott

Actress and producer Ufuoma McDermott has shed light on her gruelling 12-year battle with chronic kidney disease.

She revealed the devastating consequences of unchecked chronic pain and medication overuse.

In a conversation with Chude Jideonwo, McDermott shared how the loss of her younger brother to kidney disease sparked her own health struggles.

She said despite the initial Stage 3 diagnosis, delayed intervention escalated her condition to Stage 4.

McDermott attributed her kidney disease to years of ingesting excessive painkillers.

She said in part: “I had pushed my body and I was borderline stage 4. Last year was a very very trying time in my life where I thought I was gonna die. I have battled chronic kidney disease for about 12 years now.”
