Reports of 2025 budget presentation by Tinubu tomorrow false – National Assembly

•Tinunu presenting 2024 Appropriation Bill to National Assembly

The confusion from rumourrs that President Bola Tinubu would lay the 2025 budget proposal before a joint session of the National Assembly tomorrow, Wednesday, has been put to rest.

In a statement made available to journalists today, Secretary of Research and Information (SRI) at the National Assembly, Barde Umoru, described the news as false and baseless.

Umoru said it was imperative to dismiss the misleading reports and provide clarification over the position of the 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), a procedural document that precedes the Appropriation Act, reports Daily Independent.

The MTEF and FSP which are documentation by Ministries and Agencies of the federal government provide projections into the next fiscal year, as they also show the revenue performance of income-generating MDAs of the government.

Umoru in the statement explained that these documents which were recently laid before the National Assembly are yet to be approved by the legislature.

While urging the public to disregard the misinformation, the SRI Secretary stressed the importance of relying on official communication channels for information on the National Assembly.

The statement also warned individuals spreading falsehoods to desist from using the SRI office to mislead unsuspecting members of the public.
