Ethiopian Airlines increases baggage allowance, doubles air miles for new Lagos flights

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 30, 2025 2991 Minutes read0

Ethiopian Airlines has unveiled increased baggage allowance and doubled air miles for its passengers on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos and Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This is coming as the airline prepares for 14 weekly frequencies from Lagos to its destination in Addis Ababa, reports Daily Independent.

The airline currently operates seven weekly frequencies to Lagos, but would double it from July 1, 2025.

Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines, stated this yesterday in a press statement to aviation journalists in Lagos, Nigeria.

Mekonnen, said that the 14 weekly flights from Lagos offers extra benefits to the passengers, including more baggage allowance.

She said: “You can also get double miles if you fly with us. The extra baggage allowance is for passengers going to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras and Dubai.”

The Area Manager, said that the airline was offering these extra benefits to reward its loyal passengers as it offered more flights and options out of Lagos.

She noted that these extra flights would help Ethiopian Airlines to improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers.

“Most of our passengers will now arrive their destinations faster,” she added.

She noted that the extra flights would offer immediate connection to many African and Asian destinations.

With these extra flights, there would be instant connection that reduces the total hours of flight time for passengers.

She said that there would be four evening flights at 10pm and another 3 at 5:40 am.

The airline added that the daily midday flight would not change, stressing that only the additional flights would have different times.

Evening departure 10pm from Lagos ET 902 and arrival in Addis at 5:20 am would connect all African destinations, DXB, GRU, TLV and some other destinations.

Morning departure at 5:40am from Lagos ET904 and arrival in Addis at 1pm would connect perfectly to afternoon departure African countries, Dubai, UAE; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Tel Aviv, Israel; Mumbai, India; Delhi, India; Hyderabad, India; Chennai, India; Istanbul, Turkey; Rome, Italy; Athens, Greece; Zanzibar, Tanzania; Dar er Salaam, Tanzania and others.
