The Adamawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has seized a total of 589.536kg of assorted hard drugs within two months.

Addressing journalists today at the command headquarters along Numan Road, the commander, Aliyu Abubakar, said the success reflects the agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and public trust in Nigeria’s fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

“Since taking over leadership in the past two months, our period has been marked by intense activity, strategic engagements, and significant breakthroughs. Our efforts align with the vision of our Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd), under the three-pronged approach of Supply Reduction, Demand Reduction, and Advocacy,” Abubakar said.

The commander disclosed that during this period, the command arrested 107 suspects, including women, reports The PUNCH.

He said the drugs seized comprised major narcotics such as cannabis, Tramadol, Exol-5, Pentozacine injections, methamphetamine, codeine tablets, promethazine injections, and Rohypnol, all amounting to 589.536kg.

Abubakar further revealed that six properties in Mubi and Yola, believed to be connected to the drug trade, as well as vehicles used for storage and distribution, are currently under interim forfeiture proceedings.

On prosecutions, he said the command has secured convictions for 15 offenders, while 50 cases remain pending at various stages in the Federal High Court, Yola.

He warned that anyone involved in illicit drug activities should repent, or they will soon face the full weight of the law.
