I don’t consider my crashed marriages as failures – Star actress Funke Akindele

•Funke Akindele

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has stated that she does not consider her two failed marriages as “failures.”

In an interview with Wazobia FM in Lagos, Akindele revealed that her mother taught her that there can be no achievement without failure.

According to her, she simply accepts marriage “as it comes,” emphasizing that her mental health and job are more important.

The actress stated that her top objective is to live a meaningful life and provide for her children and siblings.

“If you ask me now, can you name one failure? I don’t consider it a failure.

“My personal life, marriage – I just go with the flow. My mental wellness is really vital for me. My career is extremely important for me, darling.

“I have to make an impact. I need to empower a lot of people. I need to motivate the young people out there. I must remain strong for my children and siblings. Why am I still alive? My head is up because I have a goal. Sure, I cry, sure, but after I cry, I just look in the mirror and say, ‘Keep moving,’” she said.

The Frontier reports that Funke Akindele has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Kehinde Oloyede, but the union didn’t stand the test of time. The couple divorced in July 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.

She later married a Nigerian rapper, AbdulRasheed–Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz, in London in May 2016 with whom she gave birth to twin boys in 2018.

The marriage also later crashed irretrievably.
