INSIDE AKWA IBOM TODAY: Gov Eno flags off a 2-week ministerial briefing

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 13, 2026 1202 Minutes read0

•Governor Umo Eno

… vows to complete ongoing projects before end of first term

The Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has restated his administration’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects before the end of his first term in office.

Governor Eno gave the assurance today, Monday, 12 January 2026, while declaring open a two-week Ministerial Briefing at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo.

In his remarks, the governor said the briefing was convened to frontload the state’s priorities and set a clear agenda for continuous and effective service delivery in line with the ARISE Agenda of his administration.

He explained that the exercise is aimed at ensuring early, focused, and efficient delivery of government programmes, particularly as the year will combine governance with political activities.

Governor Eno noted that the daily ministerial briefings, scheduled to run from today, Monday, January 12 to Wednesday, January 21 2026, will feature presentations from members of the Executive Council, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the State.

He added that each commissioner is expected to attend with their Permanent Secretary, Delivery Advisers, and other relevant officers.

The governor urged Council members to take full advantage of the opportunity to render proper accounts of stewardship, including their achievements in 2025 and projections for 2026, stressing that all plans must align strictly with the ARISE Agenda.

He disclosed that the state currently has over sixty ongoing priority projects outside road construction, with a clear focus on completing them before the end of his first term. According to him, no new projects will be entertained unless they have a direct impact on the people, align with the ARISE Agenda, and fall within available budgetary provisions.

Reflecting on the forthcoming general election, Governor Eno charged Council members to be prepared to present the administration’s report cards to the public, urging them to remain focused, proactive, and free of unnecessary excuses.

He also announced that from February, commissioners will be scheduled for regular media engagements, including monthly press briefings and weekly radio appearances on programmes such as Matters Arising, to enable them to account for their performance directly to the public.

Governor Eno cautioned that attendance at such media engagements is compulsory, stressing that they form part of official government assignments, especially in an election year.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding its developmental footprint across the state, assuring that governance under the ARISE Agenda will remain people-centred and result-driven.
