Varsity gets increased quota for Doctor of Pharmacy programme

Novena University has gotten an increased quota for its Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) Programme from the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN).

The news of the increase was communicated in a letter signed by Pharm. Ibrahim B. Ahmed, the Registrar of the Council, reports Saturday Independent.

PCN, in exercise of its powers as statutory regulator of Pharmacy programmes in the Nigerian University System, undertook a verification and monitoring visit to the University’s Faculty of Pharmacy.

The Council noted with utmost satisfaction the significant upgrades of the physical and human resources of the Pharmacy.

As an expression of her satisfaction with the facilities of the faculty, the Council increased the students’ admission quota to 120, thereby creating more opportunities for the youths who desire training and professional career in Pharmacy.

Besides, the development resonates with the ministerial directive on the enhancement of the training of healthcare professionals in the country.

Novena University, Ogume, the first private university in Delta State, Nigeria, has continued to maintain its leading position in the provision of tertiary education in the State.

This is in tandem with the university’s reputation for training graduates, mostly in its approved and accredited programmes in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Public Health, Microbiology, Pharmacology, LAW, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Accounting, Business Administration, Mass Communication, Political Science, Intelligence and Security Studies, etc at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The vice chancellor, Professor Godwin Nduka, thanked the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria for its effective supervisory roles and pledged the commitment of Novena University to programmes and projects that will further the development of the nation.

The V.C.’s message of appreciation was consistent with his earlier message delivered at the last Nigerian Peoples and Culture Day celebrations, where he emphasised the need for private universities to be more proactive in developing necessary programmes that complement the efforts of the Government in building up manpower development.
