BREAKING: Fasting continues as moon not sighted in Saudi Arabia •Muslims to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr Wednesday

The FrontierThe FrontierApril 8, 2024 3030 Minutes read0

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today, disclosed that the crescent of Shawwal, which marks the end of Ramadan, has not been sighted.

According to a disclosure made on Haramin’s official Facebook page, an official platform for the Muslim community across the world, fasting will continue tomorrow.

The platform added that the Eid-El-Fitr would hold on Wednesday, April 10 to mark the beginning of the new Islamic month.

“The crescent moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10th April 2024.”

Recall that the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, in a statement yesterday, had called on Nigerian Muslims to look out for the new moon marking the beginning of Shawwal 1445.

Therefore, despite the recent development from Saudi Arabia, Nigerian Muslims are expected to wait for the announcement of the Sultan of Sokoto later in the day, on whether the new moon was sighted anywhere in the country or not.
