It took many years of struggle to come to limelight – Prolific Nigerian singer Asake

Popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Ahmed Ololade, also known as Asake, has said he reached the top of his career in two years after many years of struggle to come into limelight.

The ‘Lonely At The Top’ crooner made this known during an interview with the GQ magazine.

The artiste said people are usually interested on the success but fail to appreciate the efforts and struggles put into the success.

“The second step is just working really, really, hard. You have to understand: I got there in two years, but I’ve been working for years,” he said.

“People are counting the days you’re successful. They don’t count the days you’ve been working toward it. Nobody gives a fuck about that.”

Speaking about his tattoos, Asake said he got the tattoo at the period when he felt discouraged, beaten down, and uncertain about the future of his career.

Asake was nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards alongside his Nigerian colleagues like Burna Boy, Davido, Olamide, Tems, and Ayra Starr.
