JUST IN: Chaos as petrol tanker falls, catches fire in Rivers

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 26, 2025 2050 Minutes read0

•Tanker explosion

A tanker accident has occurred on the East-West road near the Nkpolu axis, causing widespread damage and chaos.

The tanker, carrying petroleum products, overturned and spewed AGO diesel everywhere before catching fire, reports The Guardian.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with pedestrians frantically fleeing the area to escape the inferno.

“The tanker has started burning. The people who are supposed to do what they are supposed to do need to swing into action so that they can save lives and the buildings close by,” said Ovunda Ezekiel, an eyewitness.

The accident has caused a traffic gridlock along the road, with the police, NSCDC, fire service, and other security agencies intervening to put out the fire and cordon off the section of the road from vehicular movement.

Meanwhile, commuters are advised to avoid the area until further notice. Authorities are working to contain the situation and prevent any further harm.

The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing. There have been no casualties yet.
