The Lagos Police Command has launched investigation into a viral video allegedly showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, engaging in smoking, drinking, and dancing at the school’s boys hostel.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in April 2025 but only surfaced online recently, has sparked public outrage and condemnation, reports The Nation.

In response, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to take over the probe from the Ejigbo Police Division, where preliminary inquiries had begun.
The school principal, who also serves as proprietor, was earlier invited for questioning. He told investigators that the students seen in the footage had graduated and left the institution.
Despite this, the school management has pledged full cooperation with the police to unravel the circumstances behind the video.
“The Command will ensure thorough investigation of the matter, and findings will be made public,” Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said in a statement today.
The police urged school authorities, parents, and guardians across the state to intensify supervision of students and wards, stressing the need to promote discipline, moral values, and good conduct within academic environments.
The Command reaffirmed commitment to maintaining peace, order, and security across Lagos.
