Suspended Senator Natasha hits back at US-based Nigerian lady over Akpabio sexual harassment claims

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 3, 2025 7824 Minutes read0

•Akpabio, Sandra and Natasha

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has reacted to the shocking claims made yesterday by a US-based activist concerning the alleged sexual harassment by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Recall that the said activist, Sandra Duru, claimed that the sexual allegation brought against Senate President Godswill Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was targeted at preventing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from being re-elected for a second term.

This is even as Duru, also known as Professor Mgbeke, said she had submitted evidence of phone conversations between her and the suspended Kogi Central Senator to relevant authorities in the United States and other parts of the world for forensic analysis.

But in a swift response yesterday, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan described Duru’s allegations against her as unfounded, reports The Nation.

She also disowned the voice effects used in a livestreamed video Duru posted on Facebook, saying they are false.

The Frontier yesterday reported that Duru, an activist based in the United States, who made her claims in a Facebook live broadcast session on Thursday night, had also alleged that Akpoti-Uduaghan also offered her N200 million to accuse the Senate President of organ harvesting in order to link him with the death of a young girl who died a few years ago, as she was not getting anywhere with her sexual harassment allegation.

She called on international security agencies, which she claimed she had petitioned, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Nigeria Police Force to probe Natasha’s false allegations and what she claimed to know about the murder of Umoren, having kept mute for years before allegedly attempting to hang the death on Akpabio.

The activist said: “The Nigeria Police should handle the case of Natasha and her false allegations.

“She said she wants to force the Senate President to step down so that they will have their way to remove what they call Yoruba government.

“Umoren died in 2021. Autopsy was done and there was no organ harvesting.

“I already wrote the international agencies about a senator that claimed to have known something about the murder of a young lady and she kept it to herself.

“She must explain what she knows about the death.

“She said the reason for the fight was not really about the Senate President but about the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, that they don’t want Yoruba government to go beyond four years.

“She said no sexual harassment evidence of any kind,” Duru said.

According to her, during one of their conversations, Akpoti-Uduaghan allegedly revealed that she had been promised the governorship of Kogi State or Minister of Petroleum Resources if she could accomplish the mission of getting the Senate President out.

While displaying some of the evidence, she said the conversations revealed the lies behind the sexual harassment allegation levelled against Senate President Akpabio by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.

She exposed call logs and conversations to counteract Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claim that she had never spoken to her before.

The activist and journalist, in the one hour eight minutes live broadcast, alleged that Akpoti-Uduaghan was out to destroy men, insisting that the suspended Senator had revealed she had no evidence of harassment against Akpabio.

She displayed call logs and messages sent to her Whatsapp by Natasha.

“One, there is no sexual harassment of any kind. Two, there is no evidence of organ harvesting. I told Natasha, you are a pathological liar, you have disgraced us Nigerians.

“She said Nigerians were G and H (gullible and hungry), and you want to add to their problems?

“I told her to make peace with the Senate members but she insisted that they want to destroy Yoruba government. I don’t know what she meant by that.

“A lawyer that is very lousy and careless in her utterances. Natasha is not teachable, Natasha lacks humility. Natasha lacks moral values. She does not care. If it doesn’t go Natasha’s way, you are her enemy.

“Natasha is on a mission to destroy men… I cannot watch her destroy our men, I cannot watch her destroy our sons, I cannot watch her destroy our girls who are following her blindly.

“She called Dr Oby Ezekwesili a ‘useful idiot’,” Duru claimed.

Natasha hits back: Your allegations unfounded, voice effect untrue

The suspended Kogi Central Senator, however, described Duru’s allegations against her as unfounded.

She also disowned the voice effects used in a livestreamed video Duru posted on Facebook, saying they are false.

In a statement she issued yesterday, Akpoti-Uduaghan said she would in due course respond to the allegations made in the Facebook post against her.

She said: “I have carefully watched a livestream which was done by one Sandra C Duru on facebook, on May 1st, 2025.

“The content of the livestream including the voice effect credited to me are entirely untrue, and most manipulated to serve Sandra Duru’s ulterior motive of playing the script of Senator Godswill Akpabio.

“To the best of my knowledge, those words used are false and did not emanate from the natural cause of any contact involving me.

“It was from recent research that I also found out that the person who now represents herself as Sandra Duru is the same person who operated as Prof. Mgbeke on Facebook.

“In the nearest of time, I will respond to the unfounded allegations made therein.”
