15 suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ nabbed

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 9, 2024 2060 Minutes read0

Fifteen individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud, commonly known as “Yahoo Boys,” were arrested on Monday by the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Benin City.

The EFCC revealed that the arrests were made based on reliable intelligence regarding the suspects’ alleged participation in cyber-related fraud activities.

In a statement posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) page today, the Commission shared details of the operation.

During the arrest, several items were seized, including four luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones.

The EFCC confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be formally charged in court once the process is completed.
