2027: PDP not in shreds, open to coalition — Senate caucus

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 20, 2025 1431 Minutes read0

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the Senate, led by the Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has dismissed speculations of internal collapse within the PDP.

It affirmed that the party remains strong and united despite recent challenges, reports Channels TV.

Briefing journalists today in Abuja, Moro stated that contrary to insinuations that the PDP was in shreds and on the verge of collapse, the party was waxing stronger.

He acknowledged that internal disagreements exist but insisted they were being addressed.

Moro noted that every party has its fair share of conflict while urging members to remain resolute and loyal to the party.

The minority leader also criticised what he described as the premature celebration of a drift toward a one-party state, warning that it poses a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.

“As the biggest opposition party, the PDP is robust enough to accommodate all parties interested in forming a coalition. We are a renewed and vibrant party present in every corner of the country, and we are not averse to working with others to strengthen democratic values. “The PDP should drive the coalition if and when it becomes necessary,” Moro stated.

Expressing optimism about the party’s future, Moro praised the efforts of the reconciliation committee led by a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, noting its capacity to resolve lingering internal disputes.

“We are addressing the few contradictions that exist at the national level,” the senator said.

He also said that the PDP would emerge as competitive as ever soon.
