5 ways to make Christmas memorable for your kids

The FrontierThe FrontierDecember 25, 2024 1582 Minutes read0

Christmas season is a time of merriment for everyone, especially for kids as they anticipate new clothes and shoes to celebrate the season.

As a parent or guardian, you can make this moment a memorable one for your kids, reports Vanguard.

From fun activities like burning firecrackers to bonding with parents and distant relatives, this season is a period where parents are expected to express love and bond with their children.

Here are five ways to make Christmas truly memorable for your kids this year.

Visit Santa Claus

Despite the fact that Santa Claus is not physically present in Nigerian homes, Santa’s Grotto is becoming a common feature of the Christmas season at malls and events throughout the country, where children may see Father Christmas, exchange wishes, and take a special picture. By taking children to visit Santa Claus, you create a memory that will grow with them and feel loved by their parents.

Create a Family Advent Calendar

Make a DIY advent calendar to begin the countdown to Christmas. Every day should be filled with surprises, like tiny gifts, chocolates, or notes, accompanied by enjoyable hobbies like baking or house decorating. Your children will look forward to Christmas each year as the excitement and feeling of tradition grow with each passing day. It’s an easy way to add a little something extra special to the days before Christmas.

Decorate the House Together

Endeavor, you involve your kids in the process of decorating your home to transform it into a festive paradise. Allow and encourage your kids to use their imaginations to create their own decorations, from hanging lights and ornaments to arranging the Christmas tree. By picking a theme for the tree or incorporating traditional African prints for a Nigerian take on Christmas décor, you can even turn it into an enjoyable family activity. They will feel engaged and proud of the festive look they helped create thanks to this exercise.

Host a Christmas Movie Night

Organise a Christmas movie marathon to create a warm and inviting family ritual. Pick a variety of kid-friendly local and international Christmas classics. Watching a local Christmas film with foreign hits like Home Alone or The Polar Express may give it a Nigerian flair. To make the event even more memorable, serve popcorn, hot cocoa, and Nigerian snacks like puff puff or chin chin.

Visit Amusement parks

The festive season is not complete for the children without horse rides and some other names you will find in an amusement park. The amusement park is an avenue for the kids to mingle with other kids, make friends, and be creative, thereby creating a memory that will endure for many years.

Whether it’s going to see Santa, decorating with you, or making memories, your kids will remember the magic of Christmas for a lifetime if you create these significant experiences for them.

So, enjoy the holiday spirit, treasure the time you spend with one another, and develop memories that will last a lifetime.
