6 health benefits of yoghurt

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 7, 2024 2511 Minutes read0

The word “yoghurt” is a Turkish term (yogurmak) that means to curdle or thicken.

Yoghurt is obtained from bacterial fermented milk called “yoghurt cultures.” Yoghurt can also be made from milk; its lactic acid causes it to change to yoghurt taste.

The nutritional value of yoghurt varies depending on the type. For instance, one made from whole milk has fat, while yoghurt derived from skimmed milk is fat-free.

You can eat it with fruit, snacks, or any food you choose.

Below are the health benefits you can gain from it:

1. Keep the bone healthy

Yoghurt contains calcium and vitamin D that helps keep the bones strong and healthy. Calcium can reduce your risk of “osteoporosis” — a degenerative bone disease and other related ailments.

2. Benefit the heart

The heart can benefit from regular yoghurt consumption because it can prevent cardiovascular disease from spreading, which can also lead to lower blood pressure. The potassium present in yoghurt can cleanse excess sodium from the body, making the heart healthier.

3. Aid weight loss

Are you worried about your weight? You should try yoghurt because it is rich in healthy fats and protein, resulting in less hunger but making you full. In other words, whenever you take it, you can control what you eat afterward.

4. Strengthen immune system

Eating yoghurt would give you more infection-fighting cells. This is due to the mineral nutrients in yoghurt such as zinc, magnesium, and selenium present. Also, probiotics present in yoghurt help reduce inflammation, infections, and disorders.

5. Rich in protein

Another health benefit of yoghurt is its richness in protein which increases energy. It can also regulate your appetite and reduce the amount of calories you consume in a day.

6. Improve mental health

Yoghurt that contains probiotics can help you improve your mental health. You would experience less anxiety, stress and depression. This benefit is more effective when you eat yoghurt regularly.
