•House of Representatives

The House of Representatives today resumed plenary after a 68-day recess, only to adjourn further sitting until October 13, 2026.

The lawmakers had last sat on July 23 before embarking on the annual recess. They were initially scheduled to resume on September 15 but the National Assembly later extended the break by two weeks to September 29 (today) to allow for the completion of ongoing rehabilitation work in the two chambers, reports Daily Trust.

The House consequently reconvened on Tuesday, September 29, but adjourned further plenary until October 13.

The development means lawmakers will spend another two weeks away from plenary after returning from the 68-day annual recess.

Earlier, the National Assembly had announced the two-week extension of the annual recess in a notice signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.

According to the notice, the adjustment was necessitated by ongoing rehabilitation work in the Senate and House chambers.
