Osun to transfer long-serving teachers over cabal allegations

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 23, 2024 2651 Minutes read0

•Governor Adeleke of Osun State

The Osun State Government has informed teachers in public schools across the state who have served for over five years in their current positions to expect a transfer to another school.

The government hinted at the upcoming transfers in a circular addressed to all teachers in the state, reports The PUNCH.

The circular, signed by the Chairman of the Osun State Teaching Service Commission, Mr Tope Mustapha, was obtained in Osogbo today.

The TESCOM Chairman explained that some teachers, who have overstayed in their current schools, were forming cabals that undermined administrative procedures, thereby affecting the progress of schools in the state.

To address this issue, he announced that the Commission would transfer the affected teachers to new schools before the start of the next academic session.

“As part of our efforts to reposition and strengthen our educational system, the Osun State Teaching Service Commission is implementing a policy to transfer and post teachers who have stayed more than five years in their present schools to other schools.

“This decision aligns with international pedagogy standards, which emphasise the importance of teacher rotation for optimal educational growth and development.

“Unfortunately, the extended stay of some teachers in their current schools has led to the formation of pedagogy cabals and undermined administrative dispositions, hindering the progress of our schools.

“To address this challenge, we will be transferring and posting the affected teachers to new schools before the resumption of the next academic session, starting from 16th September 2024,” the statement partly read.

Mustapha subsequently urged the affected teachers to prepare themselves for the change, which he said was aimed at promoting a more dynamic and inclusive educational environment.
