A yet to be identified group of gunmen have kidnapped a Director working with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service.

The gunmen, numbering about six, were said to have kidnapped the director, Sir Aribibia John Fubara, when they arrived in a speedboat at about 8:20pm on Saturday, through Okirika Waterfront, near the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, reports Daily Independent.

It was gathered that gunmen before kidnapping Mr. Fubara, shot continuously into the air for minutes.

Our correspondent learnt that the victim, Sir Aribibia John Fubara, a Knight of Saint Christopher, in the Anglican Communion was about to travel when he was accosted by the hoodlums.

It is however unclear if he was kidnapped alongside others, but as at the time of filing this report, he could not be traced, as his abductors were yet to established any contact with the family members.

Confirming the incident, younger brother of the victim, Emmanuel Fubara, today said the matter had been officially reported to the police.

The Police in Rivers State is yet to make any statement on the development, as calls put across by our correspondent to the Public Relations Officer for the State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, rang out and were yet returned as at the time of filing this report.
