Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents have killed students at Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Faudiya School belongs to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a Shiia sect in Nigeria, reports Daily Trust.

According to sources, the assailants invaded Hausari quarters in Geidam LGA around 3:44am, today.

A source told our correspondent that the gunmen struck when the victims were sleeping.

“The incident occurred at around 3:44 am, when the gunmen invaded Faudiya School a well known Shiite school in Geidam.”

“They (gunmen) attacked the school when these youth were asleep and brought them outside and shot them dead.

“There is tension and concern in the town after this incident. People are terrified over this unfortunate incident,” he said.

Another source from the vigilantes command told our reporter that three members of Shiia sect were killed while one sustained injuries.

“We don’t know who they (gunmen) are but, all we knew is that they killed three students in the school. One person who tried to escape during the incident was injured and he has been hospitalised,” He said.

When contacted, Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident but did not give details.

But Captain Shehu Muhammad, Assistant Director Public Relations Unit, Operation Lafiya Dole Sector 2 Damaturu, promised to contact our correspondent after getting details.

However, he had not done that as of the time of filing this report.
