Over one million Nigerians were said to have been denied access to Late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah’s funeral which was capped up on Sunday, November 24, 2024 with a thanksgiving service at St Peter Clevers Church , Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State.

It was said that falsehood and unverified reports denied many the access to Senator Ubah’s funeral, even as Nnewi and other parts of Anambra witnessed heavy presence of security personnel during and after the event, reports Daily Independent.

Sources said prominent Nigerians from the far North, Niger Delta areas, Kwara State, Maiduguri, Kano , Lagos , Abuja and Kafanchan among other places, could not attend the funeral of the billionaire senator due to false reports on security.

According to sources, there were false reports on social media that Nnewi was under attack, fake news that made some prominent personalities stay away from the event.

It was gathered that amongst those still being awaited to visit the home of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to commiserate with the late Senator’s family, according to tradition, as of press time, include the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu, APC National Chairman Abdulahi Ganduje, Ali Ndume, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Bianca Ojukwu, Andy Uba, among many other top prominent Nigerians.

Speaking to newsmen at the Senator Ubah’s country home in Nnewi on Sunday, Prince Emeka Kamen, an Nnewi Community leader who described late Senator Ubah as a philanthropist who had positively touched many lives across the country observed that many friends of the senator stayed back from the funeral because of fear.

“Senator Ubah was a beloved philanthropist who touched many lives. He built school at Lagos and he left a legacy at Yaba College of Technology, built stadium amd offered scholarships. His many friends didn’t come here because fear of molestation. But there is security, as you can see”, Kamen said.
