BREAKING: Traffic cripples Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, commuters stranded

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 11, 2025 5301 Minutes read0

•Gridlock on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A massive traffic gridlock has brought movement to a near standstill on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, stretching from Wawa Bus Stop to Otedola Bridge.

The congestion, which began in the early hours of this morning, has left commuters stranded and frustrated as vehicles crawl along the road, reports The PUNCH.

Many motorists, in a bid to escape the jam, have resorted to using the untarred sections of the road, kicking up dust and worsening the already chaotic situation.

Several passengers and drivers alleged that the gridlock was caused by an accident near Otedola Bridge.

While details of the crash remain unclear as of the time of filing this report, eyewitnesses claimed that the aftermath of the accident significantly slowed down movement, leading to the current traffic nightmare.

A commuter, Mr. Samuel Adeoye, who had been stuck in traffic for over three hours, lamented the situation.

“This is frustrating. I have been here since morning, and we have barely moved. I heard there was an accident, but there should be a way to ease this traffic quickly.”

Another driver, Mrs Bola Omotosho, urged authorities to respond swiftly.

“The government needs to do something about this road. Accidents and traffic jams happen too often here, and it’s affecting productivity.”
