Kogi jailbreak: Captured escapees rise to 6 as manhunt intensifies

Another fleeing inmate from the jailbreak at the Koton Karfe custodial centre in Kogi State has been arrested.

This brings the total number of those recaptured to six out of the twelve inmates who escaped from the facility on Monday morning, March 24, 2025, leaving one officer dead, reports The Guardian.

The spokesman of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Abubakar Umar, told our reporter that the total number of inmates so far arrested is now six, while six others remain on the run as the search party intensifies efforts to recapture them all.

He said, so far, “One fleeing inmate is recaptured, bringing the total to six back to custody.”

Brief on Breaches at Koton Karfe Medium Security Custodial Centre

Until the recent incident, the Koton Karfe Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), established in 1934, had recorded a number of breaches in the past.
