INSIDE AKWA IBOM TODAY: A’Ibom awarded fastest growing agency in healthcare coverage in 2025

Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency (AKSHIA), has been awarded the ‘Fastest Growing Agency in Health Care Coverage in 2025,′ as the governor, Pastor Umo Eno assured of government’s determination to invest more in the welfare of the people.

The award was presented to the Governor at the State Executive Council Chambers shortly after the swearing in of Mr. Uduak Isaac as a permanent secretary in the State Civil Service on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Receiving the Award from his Commissioner for Health, Dr. Emmanuel John, accompanied by the Chairman AKSHIA Governing Board and the Executive Secretary, Dr Edikan Ekwere and Dr. Arthur Igbemi respectively, who received the award on behalf of the State government at the event in Abuja, the governor commended the AKSHIA team for their commitment and urged them to double their efforts.

Presenting the Award to the governor, the Commissioner for Health explained that it was given to the Agency by the Institute of Health Insurance and Managed Care, which, according to him acknowledged and commended the state government for the initiative by establishing State Health Insurance Schemes.

He said the scheme, launched on September 20, 2024, was established to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to all residents of Akwa Ibom State, adding that thus far, it has enrolled over 47,000 residents and was expanding to cover more than 52,000 civil servants and their dependents.
