Northern group slams Wike for threatening governors supporting Fubara

•Fubara and Wike

The Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) had condemned comments credited to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike where he threatened to create crisis in States of the Governors supporting their Rivers State counterpart, Siminalayi Fubara including Bauchi.

CNG said Wike’s comment on live television is a stark reminder of the dangerous and unrefined attitude he has consistently displayed in his political career, reports Nigerian Tribune.

The coalition said it is shocking and deeply unfortunate that a figure of such notorious repute holds a position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.

A statement signed by the National Coordinator Of CNG, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi noted that Wike’s behavior is not only an affront to the people of Bauchi but also a direct challenge to the peace and stability of Northern Nigeria.

“The CNG wishes to make it clear that we do not take such threats lightly. No one has a monopoly on thuggery or intimidation. We are fully prepared to confront Wike and anyone who believes they can bully or destabilize our region.

“It is a tragedy for Nigeria that individuals with such a glaring lack of respect for the rule of law and civil discourse are appointed to high offices in our Federal Government. Wike’s actions have embarrassed the Tinubu administration and sullied the image of responsible governance,” the statement said.

While calling on President Bola Tinubu to call the FCT Minister to order, the CNG said Nigerian people deserve leaders who will work towards unity and stability, not those who would threaten it.

“The CNG remains steadfast in our commitment to defending Northern Nigeria against any form of aggression or intimidation, and we are ready to respond with equal force to any threat posed by Wike or his ilk,” the statement added.
