•Late Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (retired)

A former Military Administrator of Bayelsa State, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (retired), has died at the age of 70.

The retired naval officer, originally from Ipoti-Ekiti in Ekiti State, passed away yesterday, Sunday, May 11, 2025, in Apapa, Lagos, reports Daily Independent.

A joint statement issued by his children, Oluwayemisi Akinadewo and Dayo Olubolade, detailed the circumstances surrounding his sudden death. According to the statement,

“He drove himself to the facility to play lawn tennis in the evening and slumped while playing. Efforts were made by medical officers around to revive him to no avail. He was immediately rushed to Obisesan Naval Medical Hospital, Apapa, where he was pronounced dead.”

Captain Olubolade had turned 70 on November 30, 2024.

His professional journey included key appointments such as Minister of Special Duties, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Minister of Police Affairs.

His passing represents a significant blow to the country’s military and political communities. Funeral plans have not yet been disclosed by the family.
