Weather forecast: NiMet predicts dust haze, low visibility nationwide

The FrontierThe FrontierDecember 29, 2023 4630 Minutes read0

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted the likelihood of dust haze today nationwide.

NiMet’s weather outlook released today, in Abuja predicted the prevalence of dust haze across various regions of the country.

The agency attributed this to a high concentration of dust in the atmosphere.

It added that horizontal visibilities will range between 2km and 5km in most areas.

However, few locations within northern regions may encounter poorer visibility, with distances as low as 1,000m or even less.

The report reads, “Due to the high concentration of dust in the atmosphere, dust haze is still expected to prevail over most parts of the country come Friday, with a reasonable visibility of two to five kilometers.

“Considering the unhealthy air quality across these regions, the public is strongly advised to use face masks as a protective measure.”

NIMET advised individuals to be mindful of the weather conditions and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential health risks associated with the prevailing dust haze.
