3 escape death as vehicle crushes Okada, passengers

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 2, 2024 3361 Minutes read0

•Scene of the accident

An Okada rider and his two passengers narrowly escaped death today in the Iyana-Mortuary area of Abeokuta as they were crushed by a Highlander jeep.

Eyewitness accounts said the Okara rider who was on a high speed from the NNPC end of the busy road defied the traffic light as the onrushing driver of the jeep rammed into the motorcyclist and his two passengers, reports Daily Independent.

The three people on the Okada sustained various degrees of severe injuries as they bled profusely from the head and fractured legs.

The motorcycle that was locked under the belly of the Jeep with registration number LAGOS EPE 34 CQ had its number plate and wheels crumbled beyond recognition.

The driver of the Highlander called Jide explained to the bystanders that all manoeuvres to avoid hitting the motorcyclist and his passengers failed as he headed straight into the beams of the flyover.

At the time of this report, the driver of the vehicle, members of his family and public-spirited people were arranging for a vehicle to evacuate the severely injured rider of the motorcycle and his two passengers to the state hospital about one kilometre from the spot of the accident.
