INEC confirms 16 bye-elections across 12 states for tomorrow

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 15, 2025 1270 Minutes read0

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that bye-elections will be held in 16 federal and state constituencies, as well as senatorial districts, across 12 states of the federation.

The elections are scheduled for tomorrow Saturday, August 16, 2025, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at polling units in the affected constituencies.

In a public notice, INEC outlined voting procedures, stressing that only registered voters with a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC) will be allowed to cast their ballots. “Voters shall only vote at polling units where they are registered,” the statement said.

The commission also confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for voter accreditation. “No PVC, no voting,” INEC reiterated, highlighting the need for voters to come prepared.

The notice concluded with the commission’s commitment to the electoral process: “INEC, making your vote count… consolidating our democracy.”
