Lagos commences 6-week traffic diversion at Iyana Oworonshoki/Adeniji Adele axis

•A section of the Third Mainland Bridge

As earlier announced by the Lagos State Government, Traffic flow along Iyana-Oworonshoki inwards Adeniji Adele section of the Third Mainland Bridge has been diverted and the section closed to vehicular movement from yesterday Tuesday 9 January, 2024 for a period of six weeks.

Speaking at the diversion point, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi disclosed that 250 Traffic Management Personnel have been deployed to the axis to minimize inconvenience and ensure hitch free movement for Motorists, reports Daily Independent.

In addition, the Transportation Commissioner stated that the Federal Ministry of Works, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian Police Force are in collaboration to ensure safety, security and sanity during the course of the repairs.

Mr. Osiyemi appealed to Motorists to adhere to the traffic management plan rolled out by the state government, adding that the road projects are for the benefit of all Lagosians.

Earlier, the Federal Controller of Works, Mrs. Olukorede Keisha also explained that the Adeniji bound lane will be opened to traffic from 12:00am to 12:00 noon after which it will be closed to vehicular movement and Motorists inbound Island will be diverted to Eko Bridge via Ikorodu Road.

Others present at the diversion point are the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, the Federal Road Safety Corps Lagos Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Bakare Oki-Olalekan, several state officials and Law Enforcement officials.
