BREAKING: Another building collapses in Lagos •PHOTOS

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 25, 2025 4141 Minutes read0

•Building collapse

Five construction workers sustained injuries in the early hours of today when a partially completed two-storey building collapsed at No. 5, Modupe Ola Street, Onipetesi Estate, Mangoro, Lagos.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said it received a distress call at 5:39 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 6:24 a.m. with units from Ikeja and Agege fire stations, reports The Nation.

According to the agency, the affected structure was originally a bungalow before the new owner began converting it into a two-storey building.

At the time of the incident, the building was still under construction while occupants remained on the ground floor. The collapse occurred at the rear section of the property.

The Controller General of Lagos State fire and rescue service, Margaret Adeseye said: “All five victims, who are adult male construction workers, were rescued alive with varying degrees of injuries and have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, no fatalities were recorded.”

Officials confirmed that the situation has since been brought under control.

The Frontier reports that the latest incident adds to the growing number of building collapse cases in Lagos.

The most recent incidents occurred in May during which three members of a family died when an uncompleted two-storey building caved in at Ikorodu. Similarly, in July, four people narrowly escaped death after a three-storey structure collapsed along Adeniji-Adele Road, Isale Eko.
