Bloody Kwara church attack: Bandits place N100 million ransom on each of 38 abducted victims

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 20, 2025 3521 Minutes read0

The bandits who abducted worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have placed N100 million on each of the 38 abductees.

Recall that five persons were also shot dead, while several of the worshippers were injured in the tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday evening, reports Vanguard.

A community leader and Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, whose four relatives were among the kidnapped victims, confirmed the bandits’ request.

Chief Olukotun, who spoke with journalists toda, said the bandits have started contacting family members.

Olukotun also said that he was in church with five of his family members when the incident occurred, adding that he and one of his wards escaped the attack around 6:06 pm through the church window.

According to him, “From what we gathered from the kidnappers’ camp, they (kidnappers) have grouped the victims according to their relations and are now calling our people through each of the groups.

”Some people in the community have received calls from the kidnappers demanding N100 million for each person but as regards my own people I have not received any call concerning them, so I am still waiting.”

Contacted, the community’s spokesperson, Olasukanmi Ayeni, also confirmed the development.

“I also heard that the bandits have been reaching out to families of the victims in their custody. There hasn’t been power supply in many parts of Eruku for the past five days, so I haven’t been able to reach out to some of our people.

“As soon as I get further details, I will share them with you,” he told our correspondent in an interview this evening.
