Air Peace explains flight disruptions, promises stronger contingency measures

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 8, 2026 504 Minutes read0

Air Peace has apologised to passengers affected by recent flight delays, diversions and cancellations, blaming the disruptions on a combination of adverse weather, technical issues, a bird strike, a false fire alarm and delays in aviation fuel availability.

The airline said it regretted the inconvenience caused to passengers whose journeys were delayed or cancelled, acknowledging that the disruptions had affected travel plans and forced some customers to rearrange important commitments.

In a statement signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Oluwatoyin Olajide, Air Peace said the recent operational difficulties were triggered by a series of unforeseen circumstances affecting its fleet and flight operations.

According to the airline, one of its aircraft was grounded following an inadvertent false fire alarm, while another aircraft was forced out of service for several days after sustaining a bird strike.

The carrier also cited adverse weather conditions as another major factor, saying they resulted in diversions, delays and, in some instances, outright cancellations.

Technical issues requiring mandatory inspections and maintenance also contributed to the disruptions, while the airline said there were cases where delays in the availability of aviation fuel affected operations.

Although some of the circumstances were outside its immediate control, Air Peace said it accepted responsibility for the impact on passengers and was working to minimise the consequences of operational disruptions.

The airline said its priority was to manage such situations responsibly while ensuring that passengers received appropriate support rather than being left to bear the full burden of operational challenges.

“While some of these circumstances were beyond our immediate control, we acknowledge the impact they have had on our passengers,” the airline said.

“Our focus is on managing these challenges responsibly, minimising disruption and ensuring that our passengers are not left to bear the consequences of operational challenges.”

Air Peace also used the opportunity to emphasise that it would not sacrifice safety for punctuality, insisting that no aircraft would be cleared to operate until its technical teams and required safety procedures had been completed.

The airline said maintaining its flight schedule would never take precedence over the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft.

“Air Peace will never compromise safety in an attempt to keep to a schedule,” it stated.

It added that aircraft affected by technical problems, bird strikes or other safety-related incidents would remain grounded until they had been properly inspected and declared fit for service.

“An aircraft will not be released for service until our technical teams and all relevant safety procedures are satisfied that it is safe to fly,” the airline said.

It further explained that weather-related safety concerns would similarly take precedence over operational convenience.

“Where weather, technical conditions, a bird strike or any other safety-related circumstance requires an aircraft to remain on the ground, that decision will always take precedence over operational convenience,” the carrier stated.

The position underlines the airline’s approach that operational recovery should not come at the expense of established safety procedures.

Beyond apologising for the recent disruptions, Air Peace said it had begun taking immediate measures to stabilise its operations and improve its ability to respond to unforeseen events.

The airline said it was strengthening its contingency measures to minimise the effect of unexpected incidents on its schedule.

It also promised to improve communication and responsiveness whenever operational challenges arise, suggesting that passengers would receive better information and support during future disruptions.

“We are taking immediate steps to stabilise our operations, strengthen our contingency measures and improve our communication and responsiveness when unforeseen challenges arise,” it said.

The carrier said the measures were part of its broader commitment to delivering safe, dependable and increasingly seamless air travel to its customers.

Air Peace also appealed for the continued patience and understanding of passengers as it worked through the operational difficulties.

The airline acknowledged that delays and cancellations could have serious consequences for travellers, particularly those with connecting flights, business appointments, family commitments and other time-sensitive engagements.

“To every passenger who has been inconvenienced, kept waiting, had a journey disrupted or had to rearrange important plans because of these operational challenges, we sincerely apologise,” Olajide said.

Despite the recent disruptions, Air Peace maintained that it remained committed to earning and retaining the confidence of the travelling public.

The airline expressed appreciation to passengers who continued to use its services and said their confidence remained important to the carrier.

It said its immediate focus was to restore greater operational stability while improving the quality and reliability of the service experience.

Air Peace said it would continue to prioritise safety while working to strengthen its operational systems and contingency planning.

The airline reiterated that the recent challenges did not alter its commitment to providing dependable air travel and maintaining the safety of passengers and crew.

“We deeply appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers and the confidence they continue to place in Air Peace,” the airline said.

The carrier added that it remained committed to providing passengers with “the quality, reliability and service experience” they deserved.
