Late singer Mohbad: Group urges embattled wife Wunmi to present son for public DNA test

A coalition known as Team Justice for Mohbad has publicly called on Wunmi Adebanjo, the partner of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad), to present her son, Liam, for an open DNA test.

The call comes after the late singer’s family accused Wunmi of avoiding earlier test appointments, reports Daily Independent.

Her lawyer has however insisted she has never evaded any procedure and remains willing to participate whenever required.

In a statement issued on Monday, the group urged the lawyer to substantiate his public assurances by taking immediate steps toward starting the test.

They proposed that the DNA examination be carried out between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and the child, Liam, to confirm paternity.

The statement, signed by Toni Bart, read in part: “Following your recent comment published in the newspaper, where you stated that your client is ready for the DNA test at anytime, we, Team Justice for Mohbad in Nigeria and the Diaspora, issue an open and transparent challenge for you to back that claim with action.”

They further noted that the test should be conducted without delay to avoid prolonged court processes.

To strengthen the call, the group announced a N20 million reward to be given to Liam if the result confirms he is Mohbad’s biological son.

Popular activist Martins Vincent, widely known as VeryDarkMan, was named as the individual who would disburse the funds if the result supports Wunmi’s claim.

“To demonstrate sincerity and neutrality, we are offering a N20 million incentive to be presented to Liam if the test confirms he is the biological son of Ilerioluwa Aloba. For transparency, Mr Martins Vincent (VeryDarkMan) has been selected to disburse the funds,” the statement said.

Team Justice for Mohbad also suggested that the test be conducted openly, in the presence of accredited media organisations, bloggers, and independent observers, with a licensed pathologist collecting samples under strict professional standards.

Describing their position as a push for truth and closure, the group stressed that the move was not aimed at attacking Wunmi but at bringing clarity to an issue that has attracted national and international attention.

“This challenge is not intended to malign your client. It is to uphold truth, accountability, and closure in a matter that has affected millions of Nigerians and fans around the world. An open, verifiable DNA test remains the most credible way to resolve this issue,” the message stated.

The coalition proposed Friday, November 28, 2025, as a possible date for the DNA exercise, subject to the consent of both parties.

“We urge your client to accept this public challenge and demonstrate her readiness for transparency. We are proposing Friday, 28 November 2025, for the exercise, pending mutual agreement and open coordination,” the statement added.
