2027 will determine if Nigeria goes forward or not – APC national chairman Yilwatda Nentawe

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Yilwatda Nentawe, has said the 2027 elections will be a referendum on the reforms of the present administration.

Addressing participants at the opening of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit 2026, the APC chairman said the coming elections will be a referendum on Reforms, Courage and on whether Nigeria will continue forward or retreat backward, reports Daily Trust.

He explained that the summit is expected to serve two purposes, including to strengthen governance communication under the Renewed Hope Agenda and to lay the structural foundation for a decisive and historic victory in 2027.

He said the opposition were hoping that the “difficult reforms” will weaken the present administration, and hoping that they are waiting for temporary discomfort to erase long-term transformation, adding that, “But we are the party of courage. Under President Tinubu, we have chosen reform over rhetoric. We have chosen restructuring over recycling failure.”

He said while history does not reward hesitation but rewards conviction, in 2027, Nigerians will not vote for noise.

‘”They will vote for results and that is why the APC led administration has chosen bold economic reform over cosmetic populism.”

He told those present that the party would not pretend about what is coming as “2027 will be a referendum on reform. A referendum on courage. A referendum on whether Nigeria continues forward or retreats backward. If we communicate effectively. If we mobilize strategically. If we remain united, victory will not be accidental. It will be inevitable,” he said.

He called on Progressive Governors to Lead with performance and communicate with precision, while urging the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to “Carry the message to the last mile.”

He argued that the APC is not a coalition of convenience, but a movement of progress as there is no contradictory narratives.

“When the president speaks, governors must echo. When governors deliver, ambassadors must amplify. When the party decides, members must defend. Unity is strategic power,” he said.
