JAMB releases 2026 UTME mock results, blacklists 20 CBT centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock test, delisting 20 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres from its list of approved facilities.

The board explained that the centres were removed from its list over ‘technical inadequacies’ in the just-concluded mock test conducted last Saturday.

Spokesperson of the examination body, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the revelations in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja.

Benjamin noted that a total of 224,597 candidates registered for the mock examination, of whom 152,586 successfully sat for the test.

He said the exercise was conducted across 989 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres countrywide.

The main UTME is scheduled to hold from Thursday, April 16, 2026, reports The Guardian.

Meanwhile, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has boosted the training of dental surgeons in the South-East region, increasing the admission quota of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) from 15 to 60 students.

The development positions the faculty as the highest quota holder for dental student admissions in the country. It had, over the past 14 years, been operating under a quota of 15 students, a development that had hindered the practice of Dentistry in the region.

An accreditation team from the MDCN approved additional admission slots for the faculty, based on the facilities and personnel available, after thorough assessment.

An elated Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Linda Oge Okoye, who broke the cheering news to reporters in Enugu yesterday, stated that the faculty is now poised to offer more opportunities to intending dental surgeons.
