Eid-el-Kabir: Share sacrificial meat with vulnerable persons — Governor Aliyu tells Muslims

•Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State

Governor Ahmad Aliyu has urged Muslims in Sokoto State to remember vulnerable groups during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

This was contained in an Eid message issued by the state government and signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, Abubakar Bawa.

Governor Ahmad Aliyu asked Muslims who can afford sacrificial animals to extend support to the less privileged by sharing meat with them, reports Daily Trust.

“Sharing your meat with vulnerable groups, apart from attracting rewards from Almighty Allah, will give them a sense of belonging,” he said.

The governor noted that the state government had already provided sacrificial animals to vulnerable persons, but encouraged more private individuals to complement the effort by supporting the less privileged, including internally displaced persons, persons living with disabilities and Islamic scholars.

He further disclosed that the government spends substantial resources annually to assist vulnerable groups to enable them celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with ease.

“As Muslims, we have to be helpful and supportive to one another, especially in times of need such as this,” he said.

Governor Aliyu also called on residents to use the Eid period to pray for lasting peace and an end to insecurity in parts of the state, while assuring that his administration remains committed to tackling banditry and other security challenges.

He further appealed for continued prayers for the success of his administration and for Nigeria as a whole.

The governor wished residents a peaceful and successful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
