Trump unveils US passport bearing his portrait for 250th anniversary

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 27, 2026 531 Minutes read0

United States President Donald Trump on Friday unveiled a rendering of a limited-edition commemorative U.S. passport to mark the country’s 250th anniversary of independence, featuring his portrait on the cover page.

Trump shared the design in a post on his Truth Social platform, describing it as the nation’s “New Passport” with the inscription: “Welcome, but be good!”

The mock-up shows a stern-faced Trump leaning on his desk alongside his signature, with the text of the Declaration of Independence forming the background, reports Saturday Guardian.

The image appears to be based on an official portrait taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok.

The opposite page features a painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, accompanied by the inscription, “United States of America 250.”

The White House also released the rendering on its official social media accounts, branding it the “Patriot Passport.”

The U.S. State Department had earlier announced that a commemorative passport featuring custom artwork would be made available beginning July 6 as part of activities marking America’s 250th anniversary.

However, the department did not immediately respond to requests for comment following Trump’s unveiling of the design.

In April, a State Department official said the commemorative passports would be available only through in-person appointments in Washington, D.C., and only while supplies last.

The passport is the latest example of Trump placing his personal imprint on government institutions during his administration.

His presidency has seen banners bearing his image displayed outside several federal buildings, while the Treasury Department has announced plans to place his signature on the one-dollar bill.

Trump also sought to attach his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, although a court later ruled that it should be removed.

If released as presented, Trump would become the first sitting U.S. President to have his likeness featured in an American passport.
