The vigilante abducted during a clash between Fulani herdsmen and local security operatives in Amakohia-Ubi community, Owerri-West Local Government Area of Imo State, has been found dead.

The body of Uche Ejiofor, who was abducted during the clash on Wednesday, was discovered in a bush on yesterday, after two days, with severe mutilations, reports The Nation.

A source from the community revealed that Ejiofor’s colleagues found his body while combing the area.

“Yes, he has been found but in a gruesome state, his body was badly stabbed,” the source said.

“We think they might have tried shooting him to death but couldn’t succeed, so they resorted to butchering him to death.”

The body has been deposited in the morgue, according to an indigene of the area.

Recall that the incident which occurred on Wednesday evening, August 19, 2025, when the vigilantes attempted to stop the Fulani herdsmen and their cows into their farmlands in the area.

The confrontation led to the death of a vigilante member with many residents fleeing their homes. One of them expressed uncertainty about returning, saying, “For me, I’m not returning soon, but I can go back in the morning. Sleeping there is what I can’t guarantee.”
