Afrobeats singer Ruger is set to return to the music scene after a lawsuit from an ex-partner kept him from releasing new music, his management confirmed.
In a statement today, Blown Boy Entertainment said the singer was tied up in personal challenges after an ex-partner sued him for alleged emotional distress and damages.
“We know it’s been a while since Ruger dropped new music. For some time, Ruger was caught up in a series of personal challenges after someone he dated decided to sue him for alleged ‘emotional distress’ and ‘damages”, the statement reads.
The label stated that the legal issue is now resolved, adding that Ruger is fully focused on his music career and has been working on new projects.
“That chapter is now behind him. A new chapter begins. A new energy emerges.
“Ruger is back to doing what he loves most – making music. And best believe, he has been cooking”, the statement continued.
Blown Boy Entertainment thanked fans for their support and patience during the singer’s period away from music.
The label also announced Ruger’s summer performance schedule, which includes shows in Belgium, Màlaga, Bali, Malawi, and the United States.
“We would like to sincerely thank everyone who remained patient and continued to support Ruger throughout the silence. Your loyalty and belief have meant everything,” it added.
“This summer, you can catch Ruger performing in Belgium, Màlaga, Bali, Malawi and United States. August belongs to us. Stay tuned, enjoy your summer and get ready for what’s next.”
Ruger, born Michael Adebayo, founded Blown Boy Entertainment in January 2024 after exiting Jonzing World.
