Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Transport, Dr Anthony Luke, has urged staff of the Ministry to reciprocate the kind gesture of government by vigorously pursuing the ARISE Agenda development blueprint of Governor Umo Eno.

•Permanent Secretary Mrs Grace Akpan (L) and a staff

The commissioner was speaking recently at the Ministry’s headquarters along Ben Udo Street in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, while gifting Christmas Packages to staff in keeping with the spirit of the Yuletide season.

Luke emphasised that, since the government has invested so much in staff welfare and motivation, it was just right for them to reciprocate the kind gesture by showing commitment to the success of the ARISE Agenda in all sectors particularly the Transport sector where they belong and oversee.

He commended the staff for bracing up to the challenges of life all through the year and expressed the hope that, the new year will bring new narratives and positive developments in the Ministry of Transport and solicited support towards all on-going projects of the Ministry in the coming year 2026.

The commissioner used the occasion to appreciate the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan for the positive changes and synergy she has brought into the ministry and urged all staff to cooperate with her for a smooth and seamless administration of the ministry.

He reminded the staff that, Christmas is a season of sharing love and pleasantries among the people and therefore encouraged the staff to share the joy of the season with their families and friends during the festivities.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Grace Akpan, appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for his show of love to the staff and encouraged them to see government’s efforts as a motivation for them to improve on their job performances and productivity.

The event which was attended by Directors in the Ministry featured rendition of carols by The Ministry’s choir while the entire staff took to the dance floor, singing songs of praise and worship to God and also expressing appreciation to the commissioner for his kind gesture towards them.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of bags of rice and cash gifts to the staff by the commissioner.
