APC chieftain disowns fake NDC membership card with his details in circulation

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 11, 2026 692 Minutes read0

•Thomas Ereyitomi

The Member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Thomas Ereyitomi, has raised serious alarm over what he described as a dangerous act of cyber sabotage following the circulation of a purported Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) membership card carrying his photograph and personal information across social media platforms and political circles.

In an official disclaimer issued through his office, the federal lawmaker categorically distanced himself from the alleged membership card, insisting that it is fake, criminally forged, and deliberately designed to tarnish his image and create unnecessary political controversy, reports Daily Independent.

He stated emphatically that he has never registered with the NDC and has never held discussions or affiliations with any official or structure of the party.

Rt. Hon. Ereyitomi reaffirmed his total loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, stressing that he remains a committed and bona fide member of the ruling party. According to him, he has already been duly screened and cleared under the APC platform for the forthcoming elections, making the attempt to portray him as belonging to another political party both false and laughable.

Describing the incident as a coordinated political attack, the lawmaker accused desperate political detractors of sponsoring the fake membership card in a bid to manufacture an anti-party narrative capable of misleading the public and causing disaffection among party supporters.

He maintained that the propaganda was carefully orchestrated to distract attention from the legislative progress, empowerment initiatives, and developmental interventions achieved under his representation in Warri Federal Constituency.

The lawmaker further stated that the circulation of digitally manipulated materials and fabricated political documents represents a dangerous dimension of cybercrime and misinformation capable of undermining democratic stability.

He warned that politics should never be reduced to the level of character assassination, forgery, and online sabotage by individuals unwilling to engage in healthy democratic competition.

Ereyitomi disclosed that security and investigative agencies have already been notified about the alleged forgery, adding that steps are currently being taken to trace the origin of the fake membership card and uncover those behind its circulation.

He vowed that everyone involved in what he termed cyber manipulation and political sabotage would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Calling on APC faithful, supporters, and constituents across Warri Federal Constituency to remain calm, the lawmaker urged them to disregard the fake NDC membership claims and remain focused on the shared vision of sustainable development and political stability.

He emphasised that truth, transparency, and loyalty remain the pillars of his political journey and public service.

Political observers have described the development as part of the growing tension associated with contemporary political contests where fake news, digital propaganda, and misinformation are increasingly deployed as weapons against perceived political opponents. Nevertheless, supporters of Rt. Hon. Ereyitomi insist that the controversy has only strengthened public confidence in his leadership and loyalty to the APC.

The lawmaker concluded by reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the APC, the people of Warri Federal Constituency, and the principles of democratic accountability, while assuring constituents that no campaign of falsehood or cyber sabotage can weaken the strong bond he has built with the people over the years.
