The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has enjoined members of the public to discountenance a video recording alleging that Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi talks down on the capability of the party to end Governor Ademola Adeleke’s reign in the next governorship poll.
A video had gone viral on social media where Ogunbiyi, an aspirant for the party’s Senatorial ticket for Osun West, while addressing a group of people, purportedly claimed President Bola Tinubu made overtures to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to join the APC, reports Sunday PUNCH.
A statement by the party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, obtained in Osogbo on Saturday, in reaction, alleged that the said video was being circulated by members of the Accord Party, describing those sharing the video as ‘failed political entities.’
Alleging that Ogunbiyi’s speech was twisted by the members of the ruling Accord Party, Osun APC said the Insurance expert remains one of the dependable chieftains of the party, not only in the Osun-West Senatorial District, but in the entire state.
The APC further noted that the politician has been demonstrating an uncommon attribute of a virtuous team worker with the mission of improving the status of the party since he joined the progressive camp in the state.
“There’s no doubting the fact that the failed political entities who have been circulating the innocently made but twisted content of the message of Dr. Ogunbiyi at a political meeting who, no doubt, is one of the dependable chieftains of our party not only in the Osun-West Senatorial District of the state but in the entire state did not disappoint the discerning minds that they were up to a mischief which has refused to neither fly nor sit.
“One wonders why the political agents of rifts, who are glaringly afraid of their shadow with reference to the current political situation in the state, which, in all ramifications, is pointing towards the meeting of their imminent doom, would resort to a misrepresentation of fact to oil their famished and dwindling political interest.
“We want to state here unequivocally that Dr Ogunbiyi is one of the credible, trusted and dependable chieftains of our party who would never be a party to the advancement of any misfortune for our party in any form,” the statement read.
It further read, “May we ask the unsolicited purveyors of the distorted video recording why they chose to prioritise the clip being circulated without showing the area where Ogunbiyi reiterated his absolute commitment towards the concerted efforts of our party to send the embattled Governor Ademola Adeleke back to wherever he might come from?”
The party noted that in the said video clip, Ogunbiyi lauded the choice of Bola Oyebamiji as the APC governorship candidate, alleging that those out to do mischief did not acknowledge Oyebamiji’s declaration to work for the party’s victory in the governorship poll.
“We don’t have any reason whatsoever to doubt the unconditional political commitment and unalloyed loyalty of Dr. Ogunbiyi, a Senatorial aspirant of our party in the West Senatorial District of the state, who has been giving its all for the upliftment of the party.
“The purveyors of the distorted message whose mission to cause orchestrated cataclysm in our party has hit the rocks should go back to their sponsors and report back to them that this inglorious route has failed beyond redemption as Ogunbiyi remains a trusted and dependable chieftain of our party who will always want the best for it,” the APC said.
It enjoined members of the party, and the members of the public at large, “to discountenance the distorted recorded video clip being hung on the neck of the insurance magnate and take solace in the overburdened statement in the developed communities that the meaning of any word(s) spoken at any particular point in time is not total.”
